Still Becoming

36 x 48 in    Oil and Cold Wax on panel

This large-scale abstract painting explores layered colour, surface variation, and quiet transitions. Blue-green tones dominate the upper field, gradually giving way to deeper greens and earthier hues below. The surface is built through repeated applications of oil and cold wax, creating a complex patina of softened marks, scraped passages, and subtle colour shifts.

There is no single focal point. Instead, the painting invites slow looking—allowing texture, depth, and atmosphere to unfold over time. Areas of opacity and translucency coexist, suggesting movement, growth, and moments of pause. A narrow vertical band of warm orange at the left edge interrupts the cooler field, acting as a subtle counterpoint rather than a destination.
