Blurred Lines
20 x 40 in Oil and Cold Wax on panel
Shown in horizontal and vertical orientation
Blurred Lines began like the other works in this series, but resisted resolution. Layers accumulated without cohesion, creating tension rather than clarity. In response, the surface was softened with glazes of white and black, then drawn through with a steel comb—introducing structure while allowing what came before to remain partially visible.
The resulting horizontal lines both obscure and reveal, compressing colour, texture, and history into a quiet, rhythmic field. Flecks of green, ochre, turquoise, and red surface intermittently beneath the veil, suggesting depth and persistence rather than dominance. What once felt unresolved now reads as deliberate, balanced, and complete.
