Resilience

30 x 15 in    Oil and Cold Wax on panel

Shown in both horizontal and vertical orientation

Resilience is an abstract painting inspired by the strength and endurance of the Ukrainian people. Layered fields of blue, yellow, white, and darkened tones reference the colours of the Ukrainian flag, not as symbols, but as emotional anchors—suggesting light, hope, and persistence amid disruption.

Built through repeated layering, scraping, and abrasion, the surface holds evidence of both struggle and recovery. Bright passages emerge through darker, weathered areas, while textured marks and fractured lines speak to pressure, resistance, and survival. The composition remains open and unresolved, allowing resilience to be felt not as a fixed state, but as an ongoing act.
