Welcome to Artified Living!  Original abstract paintings, garden art and interesting projects by artist Cecilia Troy

Original Art by Cecilia Troy

Abstract art is created without an accurate depiction of a visual reality and therefore relies on a connection gained through the use of colour, form, texture, line and value.  It has the ability to connect more directly with viewers in ways that manifest in heightened emotional responses and has the power to alter and enhance the mood and the atmosphere of a living space.

This collection has been created with oil paint and cold wax medium.  Oil and cold wax is a versatile medium which allows me to develop layered, textured paintings with a history, exposed by the use of carving and solvent reduction to reveal previous layers of colour and mark making.

I consider this collection to be a modern allegory of life.  The many layers required to complete each painting are analogous to the varied experiences of humanity and each layer is an intuitive resonse to the previous layer(s).  Areas with exposed scratches, line and dissolved surfaces can be symbolic of past conflict, struggles or path taken to find a resolution and may be followed with a layer of calm and structure.  Creating the fully resolved painting requires patience and persistence.

Hi there, I'm Cecilia Troy, owner of Artified Living, located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.  I am a mixed media artist and as far back as I can remember, my love of creating has been an important part of my life.

I'm married, mother of 3 adult sons and grandmother to 4 energetic and amusing grandchildren. My youngest son, now 30 years old (how is that even possible), told me I should coin the term MSOS (pronounced M Sauce) because I make stuff out of stuff.  My hobbies include painting, gardening, shopping at thrift stores and flea markets, and diy projects.

I strive to create one of a kind pieces of art while maintaining a desire to follow the principles of reuse, repurpose and recycle.
