Octology
6 x 48 in Oil and Cold Wax on panel
Shown with Octave in Horizontal and Vertical Orientation
This painting is part of the Spectrum Series, an ongoing exploration of colour through repetition, division, and subtle transition. Structured into eight equal squares, Octology is an elongated abstract painting divided into eight equal sections within a single panel. Each section is developed through layered oil and cold wax, allowing shifts in colour, texture, and density to emerge across the surface.
While unified by structure and process, the sections register subtle variation rather than strict repetition. Read as a whole, the painting functions as a continuous sequence—an accumulation of decisions and revisions over time—inviting the eye to move laterally, noticing rhythm, contrast, and restraint rather than a single focal point.
